Safran Landing Systems supports CAE
The Cercle Aéronautique de l'ESTACA (CAE), one of the largest student associations on the Paris-Saclay campus, has signed a major sponsorship agreement with Safran Landing Systems.
The Safran Group, through its Safran Landing Systems entity, world leader in landing and braking systems, has undertaken to support the CAE's activities through financial and educational sponsorship.
What projects does Safran support?
The Cercle Aéronautique de l'ESTACA is currently working on various projects, 2 of which are supported by this new partnership:
- The Airbus Cockpit System project, involving the creation of a 1:1 scale cockpit for an Airbus A320, entirely built by the students (structure, 3D-printed instruments, implementation of Microsoft Flight Simulator, etc.).
- The Savannah project: construction of an ultralight in kit form, in partnership with the Camille Georges Jousse flying club and the CFA aviation school in Toussus-le-Noble.
Thanks to the support of Safran Landing Systems, the cockpit project aims to be operational by the end of the school year, with the main flight controls. It will then continue to be improved by CAE members, and can be used for 2nd and 3rd year PITA projects.
The Savannah project is currently almost ready to fly, with testing scheduled for the spring and a start-up in the summer.
Safran Landing Systems is also committed to welcoming CAE students to its Vélizy site. The CAE will present the projects supported to engineers working at Safran, enabling the students to benefit from their advice as they move forward with their projects.
