New partnership with the army and a 1st admitted
At the end of their 4th year, students can take a year off to undertake a long internship, a humanitarian experience or a stay abroad... A new Grandes Ecoles partnership with the French Army offers selected students the opportunity to undertake a 6-month internship during their year off, as an assistant platoon leader at the heart of a regiment. Malo, a 4th year student, has just been accepted into this program.
Immersion in the army
The Partenariat Grandes Écoles (PGE) offers students with a Master 1 the opportunity to spend six months immersed in the heart of the French Army.
Scheduled to run from mid-February to the end of July, this internship enables selected students to improve their leadership skills, learn to manage stress, develop team spirit and a taste for effort, and acquire the ability to make decisions in emergency situations, while earning a salary of around €800 net per month.
Successful students will gradually be placed in command situations in a variety of contexts. They will develop a spirit of cohesion and rise to collective challenges. The course is divided into 3 stages:
- general officer training at the St-Cyr Coëtquidan military academy.
- specialty training at a training school (infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineering)
- immersion in a regiment (operational unit) for 4 months.
Students who continue in the reserves will receive their second lieutenant stripes. They will have the opportunity to pursue a career as a reserve officer, compatible with the exercise of their civilian professional responsibilities.
Malo, 4th year student, selected for the 2024 program
280 students from 23 business schools, 25 engineering schools, 9 IEPs and several universities applied for this year's program, and 60 were selected to take part.
Malo GUILHE LA COMBE DE VILLERS, a student in the rail sector, is the 1st ESTACA student to be accepted. He will join the program at the end of January. His application was accepted after several selection phases, including a dossier sent in September, a medical examination, sports tests, psycho-technical tests and assessment and motivation interviews.
He will join the Ecole de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan for a preparatory period, then a regiment until July 2024 as assistant section leader with 40 men under his responsibility. He will be confronted with the reality of command and fieldwork, commitment and a taste for effort.
Malo comes from a military family and developed his spirit of mutual aid and camaraderie in the Scouts d'Europe. He explains:
