One of the main missions of the ESTACA Alumni network is to create intergenerational links between students and alumni.

These links are important and form part of the foundations of our community. By supporting future graduates, the Alumni integrate them into the Network, helping it to grow in strength and reputation.

To further this mission, this year the Alumni Network is offering its alumni the chance to become Godparents to students entering their 4th year.

Becoming a Godparent means creating a privileged, benevolent link to facilitate exchanges, pass on your experience and support a student in defining his or her professional project and taking his or her first steps in the world of work.

Missions can be wide-ranging and varied, depending on the student's needs and what the Sponsor wishes to pass on: sharing experience, networking, advice and support, etc.

64 alumni signed up for the program, and 49 alumni/student pairings were created.

After nearly 4 months of mentoring, we asked the pairs what they thought of the program:

  • 67% of Alumni enrolled in the program have been chosen by one or more godchildren.
  • 100% of student respondents are satisfied with the exchanges with their sponsor
  • 22% of pairs have already met face-to-face and 35% by videoconference

The surveys carried out among pairs have enabled us to identify areas for improvement, which can be implemented as of next year:

  • Communicate more about sponsorship with students at the beginning of the year. In addition to relaying the information on E-Sphère, the Alumni website and in a mailing, also relay it on the ESTACA website and via the heads of the graduating classes.
  • Provide more framework for pairs who want it: ideas for topics to be discussed during the first meetings, give some concrete examples of how a sponsorship could work, provide a standard interview guide, etc.

"This sponsorship is an excellent idea for forging links between students and alumni. It's good that it's the student who chooses his or her sponsor, depending on his or her future career path, affinities and location/region of origin. To be continued in future years!"

Sébastien Tiberghien, class of 1992, sponsor of Edgar Lalanne-Cloute, class of 2026, Aero branch

Notice to 4th year students: you can still sign up for the sponsorship program!

Love it
