The 3rd edition of the intermediate vehicle show organized by ADEME (Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Énergie) will take place at Espace Mayenne in Laval from December 10 to 12, 2024.
Intermediate vehicles are new vehicles between the bicycle and the car, energy-efficient, durable, simple and inexpensive. They can replace the car for travel and logistics in suburban and rural areas. These vehicles offer a lighter alternative to the conventional car. Their aim is to replace them by offering a more sober form of mobility, and contribute to decarbonizing mobility.
The general public will be able to discover these new vehicles on Wednesday, December 11:
- a parade of vehicles in the town center from 1pm to 3pm
- discovery of the exhibition at Espace Mayenne from 3pm to 6pm.
A highlight on Tuesday December 10 at 8:30pm will be the showing of a film retracing journalist Jérôme Zindy's Tour de France in intermediate vehicles, followed by a debate with Jérôme Zindy and manufacturers of intermediate vehicles.
The aim is to discover and test these vehicles, and to raise public awareness of new forms of mobility. Conferences and workshops are also organized for industry professionals (registration required).
The show is also an opportunity for all those involved in the mid-vehicle sector to get together for conferences and workshops, with a view to developing these new vehicles and discussing future prospects.
A large number of manufacturers will be exhibiting their vehicles or prototypes from December 10 to 12, 2024 in Laval, giving you the chance to test them on a dedicated track.
Among the vehicles on display are a number of ESTACA student projects:
For the third year running, an ESTACA project has been selected to take part in ADEME's eXtrème défi. The NovaCycle project is a prototype platform for an innovative, modular, 4-wheeled intermediate vehicle, capable of running at 25 km/h, for experimentation by other teams.
- A new lightweight vehicle developed by HPR Solutions "Urbaner" and Bluemooov,
Also as part of the eXtreme défi, a team of students is working with two Laval companies, HPR Solutions "Urbaner" and Bluemooov, which produce an electric cargo bike and three-wheelers for parcel logistics, and have embarked on a project for a new lightweight vehicle.
Year 5 students in the eco-design, lightweighting and project-based design engineering specializations work on these projects.
These projects are funded by the French government as part of the France 2030 program run by ADEME.
- Aribell's Camalic project
Four 4th-year ESTACA trainees worked at Aribell in Barcelona to develop a cargo bike. Named "Camalic", the bike features a removable trunk that can be moved with a forklift to save time on deliveries. It can carry a load of up to 150kg.
